Marshals 4-0 following 84-53 win over Carlisle County

Alex Staples had 15 points in the Marshals win on Tuesday over Carlisle County. Staples is averaging just over 12 points per game through the first four games of the season.

With Tuesday’s 84-53 win over Carlisle County the Marshals are off to a 4-0 start. Wade Moore led in the win with 16 points followed by 15 each from Orrin Phelps and Alex Staples, but they continue to spread the scoring around with 12 players putting points on the board.

A couple of ties and as many leads by the Comets kept the game close in the first quarter until the Marshals began to pull away after trailing 9-8 on baskets by Phelps, Logan Parker, Logan Davis and a final basket before the quarter ended by Tommy Robertson for a 23-14 lead.

A 3-pointer by Comet’s leading scorer Bradyn Williams cut the Marshals lead to six points but the inspired play of Moore scoring seven of the Marshals next nine points stretched the lead to 12 at 32-20. Eight points, split between Jacob Wilson and Alex Staples put the Marshals up by 17 points and they finished out the half with a 21-point lead at 48-27.

A 69-34 lead in the third quarter enforced the running clock and the Marshals led 73-39 going into the fourth quarter on their way to their fourth win of the season.
