Eagles looking for first early season win

Driving to the goal against Fulton County, last year’s leading scorer Andrew Dunning, led the Eagles in their season opener with 23 points.

Sam Miller takes over the head coaching duties for Christian Fellowship following in the footsteps of Tyler Ryan who led the Eagles for six years. Ryan brought the CFS boys’ program back into the 4th District after a successful 19-9 season in 2020-2021. The Eagles finished 12-18 last year.

They are looking for their first win after a 0-2 start with losses to Dawson Springs and Fulton County.

The Eagles opened the 2022-2023 season at Dawson Springs with a 64-50 loss, despite 23 points from senior Andrew Dunning which included four 3-pointers. Dunning also recorded his first of what will be many double doubles this season with 12 rebounds.

Freshman Elijah Grigg, passing the ball off in Friday’s game against Fulton County, brings some varsity experience to the floor for the Eagles this season.

In Friday’s first home game, the Eagles fell 69-54 to Fulton County. Fulton County had four players finish in double figures including two with double doubles. Omarion Pierce had 18 points and 15 rebounds and Tristan Kinney 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Andrew Dunning led a trio of Eagles in double figures with 18 points. Elijah Grigg had 16 and Brady Fletcher finished with 11.

The Eagles will play three home games this week, all double headers with the Lady Eagles. Tuesday against Heritage Christian, Friday they play Ballard Memorial and finish the week on Saturday against Livingston Central. All games tip off at 7:30 following the conclusion of the Lady Eagles.
