CFS sweeps regular season district games, earn tournament top seed

Christian Fellowship celebrates a point in Tuesday’s district win over Murray.

Christian Fellowship finished with a perfect 6-0 record in regular season 4th District games after Tuesday’s 3-0 (25-15, 25-7, 25-13) win over Murray and Thursday’s 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-18) win over Calloway County. They will be the #1 seed in the post-season tournament which in the three-team 4th District, means an automatic spot in the Region 1 Tournament.

With an overall record of 17-4, they lead in region play with a 13-1 record, the one loss coming to Community Christian Academy.

Against Murray, Lillian Burnett led in kills with 12 and blocks with four, along with seven digs and four aces. Cori Hood had nine kills and seven digs. Lilian Griggs had 12 assists, 11 digs and four aces. Rhema Howard finished with 15 assists and Gracie Howard had seven digs and four kills. Jayden Jackson four kills.

Last weekend, the Lady Eagles played two games at wRECk the Plex in Hopkinsville, winning both. The beat Madisonville-North Hopkins 2-0 (25-23, 25-23), a team they lost a 5-set match to on Sept. 13. Their game against Owensboro Catholic went three sets with the Lady Eagles winning 2-1 (14-25, 25-22, 17-16).

This weekend they will play in the Quad State Tournament at McCracken County.

Christian Fellowship is currently the highest ranked Region 1 school in KHSAA RPI ratings, coming in at 20th in the state.
