Work Zone Shortened for Concrete Pavement Repairs on I-24 Westbound in Lyon County Starting Today

Remaining work to take about two weeks to complete

PADUCAH, Ky. (July 7, 2022)  A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has reduced the length of a work zone lane restriction along Interstate 24 westbound in Lyon County.

This work zone lane restriction for I-24 westbound traffic now runs from mile point 47.5 to mile point 45.5 in Lyon County, a distance of about two miles. The work zone merge point has moved from about the 50 mile marker to the 47.5 mile point.

The contractor is repairing/replacing concrete pavement along the westbound driving lane near the Lake Barkley/Eddy Creek Bridge east of the KY 293 Eddyville-Princeton Exit 45 Interchange.

This work zone has had some traffic backups during peak travel periods.  Shortening the length of the work zone should decrease the opportunity for traffic delays at this site.

Westbound motorists on I-24 should be alert for slowing and merging traffic as they approach the 48mile marker.  All traffic is moved to the left-hand or passing lane.

Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.  There will be a 55 mile per hour work zone speed limit with an enhanced police presence.

There is no impact to eastbound traffic in this work zone.

Harper Construction is the prime contractor working under a Master Agreement.
