Traffic Shift along US 62 Work Zone near Calvert City on Wednesday, June 12

Starting sometime during the day Wednesday, traffic will be shifted over to a section of the multi-use trail along the project area.  This will allow the contractor to complete roadway realignment and elevation work along the eastbound lanes of US 62.

This project runs along US 62 from about milepoint 8.8 at the I-24 Exit 27 Interchange westbound ramps extending eastward to about milepiont 10.8 near the US 62/US 641 Interchange, a distance of about 2 miles.  The project includes widening the roadway travel lanes, a center turn lane, decorative median landscaping and a multi-use trail that will interconnect with trails in Calvert City and at Kentucky Dam Village.

As a reminder, this work zone has a strictly enforced 35 mile per hour speed limit.  Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.

Jim Smith Contracting of Grand Rivers is the prime contractor on this $5.8 million project.  Work started on July 9, 2018.  The project is about 35% complete.  The target completion date is November 30, 2019.
