UPDATE: Work Zone Lane Restrictions along Interstate 24 in Lyon & Trigg Counties

The active portion of this work zone has been extended along the eastbound lanes of I-24.

The work zone lane restriction now runs from the 52 mile marker to the 60 mile marker eastbound, a distance of about 8 miles.

The crew removing damaged concrete pavement along I-24 eastbound has extended the length of the lane restriction so the demolition portion of the work can keep ahead of the concrete finishing crew that plans to start work Monday.

This work zone will be shortened starting around the middle of next week as sections of new concrete are poured and have time to cure.

Motorists should use appropriate caution where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.

Original Traffic Advisory:  The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans work zone lane restrictions at locations along Interstate 24 in Lyon and Trigg County starting Thursday, May 30, 2019.

Motorists should be alert for work zone lane restrictions along I-24 EASTBOUND for concrete pavement repairs from the 52 mile marker to the US 68 Cadiz Exit 65 Interchange starting Thursday.

KYTC personnel will be restricting eastbound traffic in approximately 4 mile long sections to allow failed concrete slabs to be removed and replaced with new concrete.  All eastbound traffic will initially move to the left-hand or passing lane in this work zone.

The crew plans to start at the 52 mile marker eastbound and work eastward to the 65 mile marker.  Once work is completed along the eastbound lanes, the crew will start at the 65 mile marker and work along the westbound lanes of I-24 back to the KY 293 Eddyville-Princeton Exit 45 Interchange.

As work progresses, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will attempt to provide updates from time to time on the specific location of the work zone lane restrictions.

The crew plans to complete as much work as possible during June, then remove the work zone for the July 4th Independence Day Holiday travel period.  The crew will then return for a couple of weeks of work in July to finish out the project.

Motorists should use appropriate caution where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
