Future collegiate and NBA stars wow Hoopfest crowd

Huntington Prep, WV, Olive Branch, MS, and Oak Hill Academy, VA, were all winners in Saturday’s Hoopfest evening session.

Huntington Prep was led by MVP Jaemyn Brakefield with 25 points and Michael Christmas with 20 points in their 78-74 win over Prolific Prep, CA. Brakefield has offers from Ole Miss and Baylor. Huntington Prep pulled ahead by 10 at halftime and the two teams stayed close throughout the third quarter. Prolific Prep out-scored Huntington Prep by seven points in the fourth quarter to pull to within four points at the final buzzer.

Jordan Brown led Prolific Prep with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Brown is deciding between several D1 offers that include Gonzago, Oregon, St. John’s and UCLA to name a few. Amadou Sow, who has committed to University of California-Santa Barbara, added 19 points.

Adair County, KY freshman guard, Zion Harmon, is currently the number one rated freshman in the country.
DJ Jeffries led Olive Branch over Adair County with 35 points and 11 rebounds.

Olive Branch, MS led by DJ Jeffries with 35 points and 11 rebounds, defeated Adair County, KY 91-76. Jeffries, a junior, has offers from Kentucky, Florida and Kansas. Joe Cooper who is entertaining offers from MTSU and SEMO added 24 points in the win.

Olive Branch led 44-41 at halftime and surged ahead by 12 points at the end of the third quarter and scored 26 points in the fourth quarter to win by 15 points.

The number one ranked freshman, Zion Harmon, made an impression on fans as well as Kentucky Coach John Calipari who was front and center watching as Harmon scored 33 points, with five three’s and six of eight from the free throw line. A long list of schools are showing interest in Harmon including Kentucky, Kansas, Vandy and Tennessee.

Jeffries and Harmon were selected co-MVP’s for their out-standing play.

Keyontae Johnson scored 18 points in Oak Hill’s win over Tennessee Prep.

Oak Hill Academy put on quite the show for Hoopfest fans and Kentucky Head Coach John Calipari in their 97-67 win over Tennessee Prep. Will Richardson (Oregon), Keldon Johnson (Kentucky) and Keyontae Johnson (Florida) wowed the crowd with a display of slam dunks that led Oak Hill Academy to a 35-12 first quarter lead and a commanding 57-28 halftime lead.

Richardson led in scoring with 23 points, Keyontae Johnson had 18 points and David McCormick (Kansas) added 15 points. Keldon Johnson had 15 points and five rebounds and earned MVP honors. Tyrese Patterson led Tennessee Prep with 25 points followed by Antavion Collum with 20 points. Collum has offers from Murray State, Florida and Iowa State.
