The race was won by Miles Brown of Southfield, Michigan with a time of 1:58.68 making Brown and Flatt the only two sub-two minute results in the field of 12 finalists.

The current national 14 year old record is 1:51.23 set last year by Brandon Miller of O’Fallon, Missouri. Miller, now in the 15-16 age group, crushed the field Wednesday, setting a new national 800 meters record with a time of 1:49.87.

Flatt was anchor leg of the Region 1 Champion 4 x 800 relay team, qualifying for the state meet along with the regional runner-up 4 x 400 relay team. He is the current KTCCCA Middle School state champion in the 800 meters.
