Marshall County All-Comers meet kicks off spring Track and Field season.

DRAFFENVILLE – Marshall County Track and Field hosted the All-Comers meet Tuesday, the first out-door meet of the season with 15 teams in attendance.

Starting with the Marshall County girls, three captured first place, all in field events. Sydney Nelson took 1st in the shot put with a throw of 34-01, Audrey Grizzard took 1st in the pole vault with 8-00 and Keagin Brooks threw the discus 94-03 to take 1st by over 12 feet.

Starting with the 110 meter hurdles, Graves County’s Sophie Galloway took 1st in 17.63. Kaylie Riley had the best finish for Marshall capturing 2nd. Tilghman’s Valesha Watson won the 100 Meters in 12.75, Marshall’s Gloria Freeman was 9th and Audrey Grizzard 15th among 84.

The girl’s 1600 meters was won by Kelly Norton from Calloway County in 6:06.62 and the best Marshall finish came from Spring Dolbee in 6th.

Tilghman’s Valesha Watson backed up her 100 meters win with a 1st place finish in the 400 meters in 1:03.84. Marshall’s Sydney Reed took 6th and Jade Ford 16th.

The Marshall 4 x 800 relay team placed 2nd behind Tilghman in 1st in 11:09.10. Following Keagin Brooks 1st in the discus, two more Marshals placed well with Taylor Fennel taking 4th and Emily Colley 5th.

Calloway’s Lily Lowe, the current 2A State Champion in the high jump with 5-08, took 1st in Tuesday’s high jump event with the same height. Marshall’s Kaylie Riley placed 3rd in the high jump. The long jump was won by Graves’ Sophie Galloway with 16-11.50.

Haley Swift took 3rd in the pole vault and Kirsten Walker was 5th in the shot put followed by Keagin Brooks in 8th.

In the boy’s events, the Marshals won three events starting with Jack Brown with a 1st place finish in the 110 meter hurdles in 16.58, Collin Gunn won the 400 meters in 55.95 and Drey Reed captured 1st in the high jump with 6-02.

Tilghman’s Jayden Freeman won the 100 meters in 11:40, Marshall’s Tanner Clough placed 7th, Jake McNeely 12th and Tieler Hamlet 14th in a field of 89.

Tyler Hega followed Browns 1st in the 110 meter hurdles with a 10th place finish.

The 1600 meters was won by Calloway’s Jacob Friedrich in 4:58.62. Kyle McClain placed 9th for Marshall County and Cole Wyatt was 15th.

Following Gunn’s 1st in the 400 meters, the Marshals also captured the next two spots by Jack Brown in 2nd and Jackson Reed 3rd. Also placing well in the event was Joseph Reed with 6th and Garrett Fulgham in 8th.

Marshall’s 4 x 800 meter relay team took 2nd behind Tilghman in 1st with a time of 9:09.

Cameron Miller took 4th in the discuss with 1st going to Tilghman’s Lucas Massad with a throw of 130-00. Miller also placed 3rd in the shot put with 1st going to Tilghman’s Epion Lee-McCampbell with 43-02.

Tyler Hega placed 7th in the high jump and 7th in the long jump. The long jump was won by Mayfield’s Kyle Hurt with 19-9.50.

Bryce Ladd had the best finish in the pole vault for the Marshals placing 3rd with 9-06, Garrett Fulgham was 4th, Logan Hicks 5th and the event was won by Tilghman’s Travis Myers with 12-00.

Marshall County will host a Middle School All-Comers meet today (Thursday) and the high school team will travel to Christian County Saturday for the Colonel Classic.
