Marshall County soccer celebrates Senior Night with wins over Mayfield

BENTON – With just two games left on the regular season schedule, the Marshals 4-1 win over Mayfield Tuesday on Senior Night moved their record to 10-6-1.

The Marshals play their final district game tonight at Calloway County in the 5:30 game and finish up on October 6th at Henderson County before the 2nd District Tournament begins on October 13th at Murray.

Ten minutes into the Mayfield game, Marshall keeper Keagen Watkins made a nice save to prevent a goal followed 10 minutes later by a good look by Cole Jewell going left to right that just missed the net.

Twenty-five minutes in, the Marshals got on the board with a goal by Dawson Jolley on an assist by Parker Jennings, then Patrick Caruthers made it a 2-0 game on an assist by Jewell in the 37th minute of the first half.

The Marshals scored two more goals in the second half after Mayfield cut the lead to 2-1 seven minutes into the half. Jolley on an assist from Austin Stockdale made it a 3-1 game in the 50th minute then the game was sealed in the 64th minute on a final goal by Jewell.


The Lady Marshals made it a short night in their 11-0 win over Mayfield, wrapping up the game by halftime on 17 shots and 16 on goal.

Brittany Kimbro led with three goals, Rachel McWilliams had two and one each was scored by B.J. Waggoner, Bailey Wood, Jillian Farris, Kaitlin Cood, MacKenzie Harper and Nikki Fehrenbacher. Allie Fiske had one save in the half.

The 10-4-2 Lady Marshals play the second game tonight in a double-header with the boys, will have two games Saturday at Male and Oldham County then wrap up the regular season at home on October 6th against McCracken County.
