TRAFFICMARSHALL COUNTY – A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to restrict traffic to one lane along a section of Interstate 24 in Marshall County starting Thursday, April 9.

This milling and asphalt overlay project runs from I-24 mile point 22.6 to mile point 26.558. This work zone is along I-24 in Marshall County from near the KY 1413 Overpass to the US 62 Overpass at I-24 Calvert City Exit 27.

This work zone will include a strictly enforced 55 mile per hour speed limit with double fines and an enhanced enforcement presence.

The crew plans to start milling on Thursday morning. Paving along this 4-mile section is expected to take about 3 weeks to complete, weather permitting. Motorists should be alert for slowing and merging traffic as they approach this work zone and watch fo changing traffic configurations as the work progresses.

This contract also includes replacement of a number of direction signs to historic sites through Marshall, Lyon, Trigg and Christian Counties. Motorists should be alert for crews working at various locations along the 69 miles of I-24 through these 4 counties. Most of this work can be performed off on the right of way with shoulder restrictions only.

Motorists should use appropriate caution where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
