Abigail Cima will take volleyball talent to Shorter University

Christian Fellowship volleyball player, Abigail Cima, will head to Rome, Georgia to play for Shorter University.

Abigail Cima has been a force to reckon with in Western Kentucky volleyball for seven years. She has been a member of the Christian Fellowship Lady Eagles volleyball team since the sixth grade and over that seven-year career, Abigail has created havoc against opposing teams at the net with 1,800 kills.

Abigail has signed with Shorter University in Rome, Georgia, to continue her volleyball and academic career. The Hawks play in the Gulf-South Conference.

A fierce competitor and ultimate team-player, Abigail helped lead the Lady Eagles to a district title this past fall over Marshall County, finishing the game with 10 kills and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

She had 20 kills as well as 29 digs in their regional tournament semi-final five-set loss to Graves County, earning another All-Region Team selection and Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association (KVCA) All-State Honorable Mention.

More highlights of her senior season – in six games on Sept. 7 at the Region 1 All “A” Classic, Abigail had 45 kills and helped lead CFS to the All “A” title while sweeping all six games. The Lady Eagles advanced to the semi-final round of the All “A” State Tournament at Eastern Kentucky University, the deepest run of any Region One team. Abigail finished with 57 kills over those five games, 13 blocks and four aces.

At the Oct. 4-5 Quad State Tournament in Paducah, in six games Abigail accumulated 48 kills.

As a junior, Abigail led CFS with 47 kills and 10 aces in their Region 1 All “A” Classic championship run. They advanced to the Consolation Bracket championship game in the All “A” State Tournament and Abigail led the team in kills over their six tournament games with 60 and had 19 blocks.

She was named Region 1 Player of the Year in 2018 and was selected to the All-District and All-Region teams. She also earned All-District and All-Region team selections in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Over her career at CFS, she has helped lead the Lady Eagles to four district titles – 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019 – and a record of 137-83 in her seven years on the team.

Abigail is the daughter of Steve and Marilyn Cima.
