Section of KY 1462/Benton-Birmingham Road in Marshall County for today

UPDATE: Road opened to normal traffic at 1:00 p.m.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has closed a section of KY 1462/Benton-Birmingham Road in Marshall County for today.

KY 1462/Benton Birmingham Road is closed between about the 0.0 and about the 2 mile marker in the bottoms area near the Clarks River Bridge to allow the Marshall County Highway Maintenance Crew to remove flood debris along the roadway.

During recent flooding, a large mass of cornstalks and other debris was washed onto the roadway. The debris was initially pushed to the side of the roadway to allow it to dry so it could be removed at a later date. However, the crew will be removing it today so that ditches can be cleared in preparation for substantial rainfall expected this weekend.

Placement of equipment to facilitate the work and the extensive amount of debris to be removed will require the roadway to be closed through the day today.

KY 1462/Benton-Birmingham Road is expected to reopen to through traffic at this site around 4 p.m., today.
