UPDATE: KSP Conducting Death Investigations From House Fire in Lyon County

Hickory, KY (October 22, 2018) The Kentucky State Police Post 1 and the State Fire Marshall’s Office continue to investigate the deadly house fire in Kuttawa.  Steven R. Vinson remains in stable condition at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.  Autopsies were performed today on Amber L. Girkant, and Nathaniel Vinson.  The preliminary results show both died of smoke inhalation. Nathaniel is the son of Steven and Amber, and was just a week shy of 9 months old.

Foul play has not been determined at this time, however the investigation continues with KSP Investigator Mike Smith. Kuttawa, KY (October 22, 2018) The Kentucky State Police Post 1 received a 911 call at approximately 06:54 a.m. of a house fire on Stephens Road in Kuttawa.  A 27 year old male in the residence was able to get a two year old female out of the mobile home, but the fire was too intense for him to re-enter.  The male was transported to a local hospital, and then flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville for his injuries.  The two year old was treated on the scene by EMS and released to her grandfather. A 29 year old female and an approximately 9 month old male, were not able to escape the residence. An autopsy will be scheduled for the female and infant to determine cause of death. Preliminary investigation indicates the fire originated in the living room.  The Kentucky State Fire Marshall’s Office and KSP investigators are conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.
