Donald ‘Don’ Thomas Mobley

Mr. Donald “Don” Thomas Mobley, 85, of Benton, KY passed away on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, at the Barkley Center in Paducah.

He was born Aug. 20, 1932, on a farm in the Brewers Community, grew up, played basketball and graduated high school there.

Don served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict; returned and moved to Benton. Worked at B.F. Goodrich as a chemical operator for 30 years and at Westlake Chemical for 10 years.

Don and his wife Ann were active lifelong members of Benton First Baptist Church where he served at deacon. He was currently a member of Benton Volunteer Fire Department where he served for 50 years. He was assistant Chief for much of that time and served on the Marshall County Rescue Squad.

Don was an avid fan of Kentucky Wildcats and the St. Louis Cardinals. His favorite music was bluegrass and gospel, loved golf, fishing, studying about birds, and playing dominoes. He was always a staunch Democrat. He was a reserved, religious man and will be missed by all who knew him.

Don is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ann Bedwell Mobley; one daughter, Deborah Parker and husband David; daughter-in-law, Terry Wells Mobley; granddaughters, Maranda Mobley Wiggins (Brandon), December Parker Shotts (Steve), Dakota Parker Deroche (Trey); grandson, Dallas Parker (Caren); twin great granddaughters, Payton and Parker Deroche; nieces, Vicki Riley Wyatt, Judi Howell Tate, Ginger Haley; Nephews, Joe Dan Howell, Gerald Howell, Eric Howell and John Haley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas V. and Dora Town Mobley; son, Kenneth Don Mobley; sisters, Anna Howell, Edna Haley; and infant brother and sister, Julian and Elinor.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, at Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY with Rev. Don Wilson officiating.

Interment will follow at Marshall County Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the service time of 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017 at Collier Funeral Home.
