Fiessinger signs to play softball for Carson-Newman University

BENTON – Abby Fiessinger signed her National Letter of Intent Friday to play softball at Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tennessee for the Lady Eagles in the South Atlantic Conference.

Abby has been a Varsity starter for the Lady Marshals Softball team since seventh grade and a leader both on and off the field, receiving multiple awards including 2015 Region 1 Player of the Year, 2014 and 2015 All-Region Teams, 2013, 2014 and 2015 Defense and Offense Awards and a member of the Junior West All-Star Team.abby fiessinger

Abby currently holds several Marshall County High School records including Highest Season Batting Average, Highest On-Base Percentage, Most Hits in a Season, Most Doubles in a Season,  Most RBI’s in a Season with a current career batting average of .479.

Abby is also a member of the Tennessee Ballhawks in the off-season and committed to Carson-Newman in her junior year, saying she knew that’s where she wanted to be as soon as she drove on the campus.

“One of the cool things about the softball program is the coach has been the coach since it started and the facility is named after her”, Abby said. Referring to Head Coach Vickee Kazee-Hollifield who is in her 31st season.

Carson-Newman’s catcher is a senior which will give Abby the opportunity her first season to compete for the position. She plans to major in Mathematics and pursue a teaching certificate for grades 7-12 and hopes to eventually become a coach.
