Marshall County Sheriff’s Report – September 14

sheriffOn Saturday September 12th, Deputy Barry Howell was dispatched to US Hwy. 68 W in reference to a car driving in someone’s back yard. The caller stated the vehicle drove into their back yard, ran into one of their vehicles and left the scene. Deputy Howell along with Deputy Nathan Maxlow made contact with the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The female subject admitted to drinking vodka and taking several pills before getting behind the wheel. The field sobriety test was given in which many steps could not be completed. Jennifer S. Walker 40, of Calvert City, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

On Monday September 14th, Deputy William Strader was dispatched to McDonalds in Benton in reference to a male subject in the drive-thru who smelled of an alcoholic beverage and appeared to be intoxicated. Deputy Strader arrived and found the vehicle matching the description improperly parked in the front of McDonalds. Upon contact Deputy Strader observed the subject to be under the influence, having trouble understanding commands and had a strong smell of alcohol present. Douglas D. Riter 48, of Benton, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence.

For the week of September 7th through September 14th the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following: 14 Traffic Accidents, 2 DUI’s 2 Motorist Assists, 10 Burglary/Theft reports, 3 Shoplifters, 6 Disturbances, 15 Investigations, 3 Domestic Disturbances, 14 Warrants Served, 19 Civils Served, 12 Complaints, 25 Have a Deputy Call and 24 Traffic Stops contributing to 253 calls responded to.
