
(HARDIN, Ky.) (April 21, 2026) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 1 is investigating a Friday morning collision that took the life of a Murray man.
On Friday, April 17th, at 6:50am CT, KSP Post 1 received a call from Marshall County Dispatch requesting KSP assistance investigating a two-vehicle collision in the 7500 block of US 641 South. The initial investigation indicates that a truck-tractor with a semi trailer, operated by David A. Uribazo Izquierdo, 47 years old of Miami, Fl., was traveling northbound and slowing to turn into the parking lot of a business on US-641. A 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, operated by Cedric Cherry, 32 years old of Murray, Ky., was also traveling northbound on US-641. For reasons still under investigation, Mr. Cherry’s vehicle failed to slow and collided with the rear of the tractor trailer. Mr. Cherry was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The collision remains under investigation by Trooper Casey Hamby.
KSP was assisted on scene by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Marshall County EMS, Marshall County Rescue Squad, West Marshall Fire Department, South Marshall Fire Department, Marshall County Coroner’s Office, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the Benton Police Department.
