(DRAFFENVILLE, Ky.)-Marshall County High School has officially named Lyndon Dunning as the new head coach of its girls’ basketball program, the school announced this week.

Dunning comes to MCHS with an impressive résumé, having compiled a career coaching record of 106-43. Known for building programs around defensive toughness, team-first basketball, and strong fundamental skills, he has guided multiple teams to district and regional success throughout his tenure.

Principal Evan Merrick said the school is confident it found the right person for the job.

“His leadership style, basketball knowledge, and dedication to developing student athletes make him a perfect fit for our school and community,” Merrick said.

In addition to his on-court achievements, Dunning has built a reputation for emphasizing academic performance and character development among his players. Those who have worked with him describe a coach who connects genuinely with athletes and holds them to a high standard while fostering an environment of growth.

Dunning said he is eager to get to work and build on the program’s existing tradition.

“I look forward to working with our student-athletes, building strong relationships, and competing at a high level,” Dunning said. “Our goal is to represent this community with pride and integrity every time we step on the court.”

Marshall County fans and community members will have a chance to meet the new coach at a scheduled meet and greet on Thursday, April 30th at 5:00 p.m. in the MCHS cafeteria.
