(BENTON, Ky.) — Marshall County Fiscal Court has received a clean bill of financial health following completion of its Fiscal Year 2024 audit, with auditors finding no material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, or instances of noncompliance in the county’s financial statements.
The audit results reflect what county officials say is their commitment to careful and transparent management of taxpayer dollars.
“That is a great reflection of the daily effort our team puts into keeping your tax dollars managed carefully and transparently,” said Marshall County Judge-Executive Kevin Spraggs.
While acknowledging that future audits may not always be flawless due to changing rules and technical requirements, Spraggs emphasized that the county’s dedication to sound financial management remains constant.
“We know every audit year will not always be perfect because sometimes technical notes appear and rules or procedures change, but our commitment to strong financial management never changes,” Spraggs said.
The judge-executive pointed to responsible stewardship of public funds as the cornerstone of the county’s operations, supporting everything from infrastructure and parks maintenance to public safety and community development initiatives.
The county has also maintained its track record of voting to reduce the property tax rate, demonstrating what officials describe as proof that fiscal responsibility and community advancement can coexist.
“We are proud of this year’s audit results and even prouder to serve a community that values accountability and good stewardship of public funds,” Spraggs said.
