(BENTON, Ky.) — Residents across five Western Kentucky counties now have a new transportation option designed to provide greater flexibility for those needing rides during weekday hours.

The Fulton County Area Transit Authority has announced an expansion of its demand response service, offering on-call transportation Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The service operates under the tagline “The wheels on our buses are ‘going & coming your way’ today.”

Unlike traditional fixed-route bus services, demand response rides allow passengers to schedule trips according to their specific needs. Riders can call 270-472-0662 and use extension 1 to arrange same-day transportation, or use extension 2 to book rides for future dates.

The transit authority serves residents in Fulton, Hickman, Graves, Carlisle, and Marshall counties, providing a critical transportation link in rural areas where public transit options are often limited.

Additional information about routes, fares, and scheduling is available on the authority’s Facebook page at facebook/rideFCTA or through their website at fultontransit.com.

The expansion of demand response services addresses a common challenge in rural communities, where residents without personal vehicles often struggle to access medical appointments, employment, shopping, and other essential services.
