
(LYON COUNTY, Ky.) — The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reported several arrests and traffic incidents over the past week, including the arrest of a convicted felon found in possession of a handgun.
Felon Arrested with Handgun
On Friday, January 30, Chief Deputy Sam Adams and Deputies Bradley Dunning and Kip Darnell responded to a complaint on Dustin Road after utility workers reported a concerning encounter. According to the sheriff’s office, a man emerged from a home with a firearm and left on an ATV while utility employees were checking a meter.
Deputies located Jacob T. Weaver, 40, (pictured left) of Kuttawa, on the ATV. Further investigation revealed Weaver was a convicted felon in possession of a handgun. He was arrested and charged with Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon and lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
Bench Warrant Arrests
Several individuals were arrested on outstanding warrants during the reporting period. Lee A. Adams, 32, of Kuttawa, was arrested Monday evening on a Lyon District Court bench warrant for failure to appear in a child support case. She was held on a $4,029.60 cash bond.
Monte Clark, 51, of Grand Rivers, was arrested Wednesday in Eddyville on a bench warrant for failure to appear in a traffic case. He later posted bond and was released.
Deputy Lori Francis also served multiple bench warrants Wednesday on Natasha Yeager, 35, of Drakesboro, for non-payment of court costs and fines in Muhlenberg County. Yeager awaits extradition.
Robert E. Gaines, 33, of Kuttawa, was arrested Friday on two McCracken Circuit Court bench warrants for probation violations related to methamphetamine possession and traffic convictions. The Eddyville Police Department and Kentucky State Police assisted with the arrest.
Ice Causes Vehicle Damage
In an unusual incident Wednesday afternoon, Brandon T. Shaw, 30, of Murray, was driving south on US 641 when a large piece of snow and ice flew off an oncoming vehicle and struck his 2018 GMC Canyon. The impact shattered the windshield and damaged the headliner, requiring the vehicle to be towed. Shaw sustained minor lacerations from glass debris but declined medical attention. The other vehicle has not been identified.
Commercial Vehicle Collisions
Multiple commercial vehicle accidents were reported at Kuttawa businesses. On January 25, a 2026 Kenworth semi driven by Nishida Taichiro, 56, of Lombard, Illinois, struck a parked International semi after the driver misjudged his clearance. No injuries were reported.
On January 30, a collision occurred when Sergei Makarov, 39, of Sacramento, California, driving a Peterbilt semi, disregarded a traffic control device and pulled into the path of a Chevrolet Silverado driven by Terry E. Ward, 35, of Clarksville, Tennessee.
Saturday evening brought another commercial vehicle collision when Lester E. Jones, 52, of Valdosta, Georgia, driving a Volvo, collided with a Freightliner driven by Irmatov Sirozhydyn, 26, of Aurora, Illinois, in a business parking lot. No injuries were reported in any of the commercial vehicle incidents.
Teen Driver Involved in Collision
On Saturday afternoon, a 16-year-old Eddyville driver, Addison N. Porter, failed to yield the right-of-way at the intersection of KY 93 South with KY 293 and KY 1055, pulling into the path of a vehicle driven by Brian L. Ragsdale, 50, of Eddyville. The Eddyville Fire Department and Police Department assisted at the scene. No injuries were reported.
