District tournament play begins next week for the Lady Marshals

Goalkeeper Savannah Dodd earned her 12th shutout of the regular season on Tuesday in their 7-0 win over Hopkins County Central. Dodd ranks second in the state in shutouts.

Marshall County’s Lady Marshals wrapped up their regular season this week with a 7-0 win over Hopkins County Central and lost just their third game of the season 3-0 to McCracken County on Thursday.

The Lady Marshals finish the regular season with a record of 15-3-1 and 7-1 in district play.

With the #1 seed in the 2nd District Tournament, the Lady Marshals will play the winner of Monday’s Mayfield-Graves County game. That game will be played on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 5:30 in Mayfield. The second semi-final between Murray and Calloway County takes place on Wednesday at 5:30. The championship game is Thursday, Oct. 10 at 5:30.

In Tuesday’s win over Hopkins County Central (11-6-1), the Lady Marshals seven goals came from London Lockhart and Lauren Noles with two each. Also scoring goals were Macy Scott, Rylee Teague and Addison Lyles. Assists on goals were by Scott, Rylee Teague, Libby Steward and two from Briley Cathy.

Goalkeeper Savannah Dodd had five saves and earned her 12th shutout of the season. Dodd currently ranks second in the state in shutouts.

Thursday, it was #5 McCracken County Lady Mustangs hosting #7 Lady Marshals according to KHSAA RPI rankings.

McCracken County won 3-0 behind goals from Maddy Ledgerwood with two and one by Savannah Dowell. The Lady Mustangs goalkeeper, Addison Smith, had six saves.

McCracken County finishes the regular season with a record of 17-1-2. Their only loss to Harpeth Hall-Girls out of Nashville 3-0 on September 7.
