Stokes advances to KHSAA State Golf Championship finals

Just three strokes was the narrow margin the Marshals golf team missed advancing to the KHSAA State Golf Championship final rounds at Bowling Green Country Club on Wednesday in the Region 1-4 sub-state round.

Three teams will automatically advance starting with first place Taylor County 312 (+28). Owensboro 314 (+30) was second and McCracken County 318 (+37) finished third. The Marshals placed fourth with a team score of 321 (+39).

Ryan Stokes shot 77 (+6) to finish tied for 11th and is an individual qualifier for the state tournament that will be played October 8-9. Kyzer Phillips finished in a four-way tie for 22nd with a round of 80 (+9) which placed him in a tie for the 15th and final individual qualifier spot. Phillips lost on the third playoff hole.

McCracken County’s Landon Hunt and Layton Richey of Greenwood finish in a tie for first with even par scores of 71.
