HARDIN, Ky. – New Covenant Christian Academy’s varsity teams competed well in their first seasons in basketball conferences.

NCCA’s varsity boys team, coached by Joey Adair, finished its first season in the Kentucky Christian Schools Athletic Association as Division II state champions. Senior Zach Armstrong of Murray was named tournament MVP. Junior Reid Lynch of Murray and freshman Jon Ray of Hardin were named to the all-tournament team.

The varsity girls, coached by Ed Chapman, were runners-up at the Kentucky Christian Athletic Association’s Super Regionals in Louisville and then lost in the KCAA state semi-finals.

Senior Ellie Etherton of Murray was a candidate for KCAA Miss Basketball and was named to both the state All-Tournament and season All-State teams. Etherton and junior Cate Taylor of Murray will end their season at the KCAA All-Star game on March 9 hosted by Valor Christian Academy at Brescia University in Owensboro.

This is the fifth season NCCA has competed in middle and high school basketball for boys and girls, but it’s the first year with varsity teams in the KCSAA and KCAA conferences.
