Senator Danny Carroll Invites Military Families to Participate in Military Kids Day, Tuesday, February 27th

FRANKFORT, KY (January 23, 2024) – Military Kids Day, the annual event hosted at the Kentucky State Capitol, is scheduled to return on Tuesday, February 27. Senator Danny Carroll, R-Benton, and other lawmakers encourage families and children in their districts to participate.

Initiated by Senator Jimmy Higdon, R-Lebanon, at the request of a military family living in his district, Military Kids Day is an annual event that allows military children to participate in the legislative process. Hosted by the Veterans, Military Affairs, and Public Protection Committee, children are invited to go on a Capitol tour, page for their respective legislator, participate in a Capitol scavenger hunt and attend committee meetings related to military issues.

The Kentucky State House of Representatives will lead this year’s effort, but Carroll and the Senate Chamber will welcome military kids for the day’s floor proceedings.

“As one of the Senators who initiated the Sunny Page program in the Senate along with my former colleague Dennis Parrett, I appreciate Military Kids Day and the exciting opportunity it provides to showcase the children of mothers and fathers who serve in the armed forces,” Carroll said.

“When kids get to visit our state capitol and participate in the legislative process, it is a memory that sticks with them their entire life and I truly believe it positively impacts the trajectory of a child’s life. I want to strongly encourage military families in Ballard, Carlisle, Livingston, Marshall and McCracken Counties to contact the Senate Clerk’s Office and make plans to participate in this special event. Military kids deserve this opportunity to be recognized.”

Military Kids Day will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, at the Kentucky State Capitol.
