James Michael Barnes, age 81, of Paducah, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Mercy Health Lourdes.
James Michael was born in Paducah on December 8, 1942 to James Robert and Watseka Cope Barnes. He was exceptionally artistic and crafty and enjoyed painting and creating. He was an interior decorator for almost 60 years. James Michael also enjoyed working outdoors, gardening, reading and history. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.
James Michael is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sharon Ramey Barnes; three daughters, Janschelle Barnes of Paducah, Gretchen Hershey (Richard) of Lebanon, Tennessee, Heather Hulse (Bryan) of Nashville, Tennessee; one son, James Michael Barnes, II (Elaina) of Paducah; three sisters, Wywanna Walraven, Inez Hubbard (Robert), Michelle Henson (Bill); one brother, Anthony Barnes; seven grandchildren, Peach Barnette, Jacob Barnette, Andrew Barnette, Elizabeth Barnes, Nathan Barnes, Ramey Hulse, Ellery Hulse, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church with Rev. Charles Uhlik officiating. Visitation will follow the service at Grace Episcopal Church.
