Bette Minton Smith, 86, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, Kentucky.
Bette was born in Joliet, Illinois on June 30, 1937 to the late Norman T. and Sophia Barnhart Miller. She lived with her family during World War ll at the Oak Ridge Military Facility in Tennessee. The family later moved to Paducah, with the opening of the Union Carbide plant. Bette graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School in 1955. She was a past member of the Professional and Business Women’s Club. She worked as an accountant and as interim Executive Director of the Paducah Housing Authority, thereafter, she started her own consulting firm, Sassie, with the oversight of government housing contracts, until she retired.
Bette is survived by her husband of 47 years, Oliver Smith of Paducah; daughter, Susan Minton Poore of Reno, Nevada; stepson, Mike Smith of LaCenter, Kentucky; stepdaughter, Cheri Williams of Wickliffe, Kentucky; and four grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Ann Minton; and her parents.
There will be no services. Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Paducah is in charge of arrangements.
