9th Annual PaDucky Derby Fundraiser Kicks Off Sept. 1 to Support Merryman House

Paducah, KY, September 1, 2023– On Friday, Sept. 1, Merryman House’s 9th Annual PaDucky Derby, presented by Humana Healthy Horizons in Kentucky, kicks off and opens rubber duck adoptions to the public with one critical goal: raise money to support western Kentucky’s domestic violence shelter and program.

The 2023 PaDucky Derby will be held at 3 p.m. on Oct. 21. The event will feature 20,000 rubber ducks that will race across Bob Noble Park’s Montgomery Lake in Paducah. Ducks can be adopted for $5 each, and the three fastest lucky ducks will win their adoptive parents cash prizes up to $2,500. Adopters must be 18 or older, but do not have to be present to win.

In the two months before Race Day, beginning Sept. 1, community members can “adopt” ducks for their chance to win and to support the Merryman House Domestic Crisis Center.

Community members can adopt ducks in person at Banterra Bank locations in Paducah, or at adoption booths. Find a full list of planned adoption booths on the Events tab of the PaDucky Derby Facebook page. To adopt online, visit DuckRace.com/Paducah.

Merryman House exists to save, build and change the lives of those affected by intimate partner violence in the Purchase Region. The agency serves men and women, and survivors’ dependents. All services are free and confidential.
