‘Shop & Share’ event benefiting Merryman House Domestic Crisis Center coming to Kroger stores February 11

Paducah, KY, February 6, 2023– In partnership with First Lady Britainy Beshear and the Kentucky Coalition Against Domestic Violence (KCADV), Kroger stores across the state will accept donated items to support Kentucky’s 15 certified domestic violence shelters Saturday.

This one-day community event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Kroger shoppers are invited to SHOP for what they need and SHARE an item at the door for the Merryman House Domestic Crisis Center – the Purchase Region’s domestic violence program and emergency shelter.

Volunteers will be onsite at Murray and Paducah Kroger locations to share the program’s shopping list, or shoppers can access a mobile list via the Shop & Share QR Code displayed on signs throughout the stores.

Over the past 13 years, more than $5 million in goods and monetary donations have been raised for the 15 domestic violence shelter programs that make up the KCADV.

“As inflation continues to tax everyone’s personal budgets, it does the same to our agency food and grocery budget,” said MHDCC Director of Community Engagement, Kayla Myers. “Multiply your personal budget by 36 (the number of beds in our emergency shelter), and you will see just a portion of the funds it takes to stock our emergency shelter and food services. Shop & Share relieves thousands of dollars’ worth of grocery purchases for us every year – every box of Pop-Tarts or case of soup makes a difference! Please Shop & Share with survivors this Saturday!”
