Bella Barrett signs with University of Pikeville archery team

Bella Barrett, joined by her parents Joel and Andrea Barrett, signed on Friday to compete in the Olympic Recurve division at the University of Pikeville. Also present was archery head coach Ellie Yokum (standing) from the University of Pikeville.

DRAFFENVILLE – Bella Barrett signed on Friday with the University of Pikeville archery team. Bella is the first-ever archery team member from Marshall County High School to continue her archery career collegiately. She will compete in the Olympic Recurve division under Head Coach Ellie Yocum.

Bella has been a member of the Marshall County Archery team for the past four years. She is also a member of the West Kentucky Bowhunters regional team in Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA) League through Patterson’s Archery Academy near Princeton, Ky.

Bella holds the MCHS archery team record for highest scoring female member with a score of 294/300. In 2020, she placed second in the Kentucky S3DA State Indoor 3-D Tournament in Olympic Recurve and placed second in the Eastern US Nationals S3DA Tournament in Olympic Recurve. In 2021, she recorded another second place in Olympic Recurve in the Kentucky S3DA State Indoor Tournament.

Her Marshall County and S3DA coaches are Allan Smith, Brien West and Tom Patterson.

Bella was also a member of the MCHS cross country team for two years.
