A successful run for the Lady Marshals in the Florida Beach Bash in Fort Walton Beach with wins over Springboro, North Oldham, North Bullitt and Edgewood, OH ended Friday in an 8-3 loss to Assumption.
Scoring two runs in the first, three in the second and two in the third gave Assumption a commanding 7-0 lead. The Lady Marshals three runs came in the fourth inning on a sacrifice by Kinley Edwards, a run on a bunt by Layne Pea in the fifth inning and a run in the sixth inning on a double by Cayson Conner.
Assumption scored their eighth run in the top of the sixth for the 8-3 win. Assumption finished with a 4-2 record in the Beach Bash with wins over Owensboro, Lexington Christian, South Laurel and Marshall County. Their two losses came from Eastern and Webster County.
Their final game scheduled on Saturday against Niceville, FL was cancelled due to rain.
They will play at Webster County on Tuesday at 6:00 and at Calloway County on Thursday before hosting the Slugfest on Saturday.
