No injuries reported in morning house fire

Possum Trot-Sharpe and Palma-Briensburg fire department crews on Tuesday remain at a home on Dunnigan Lane to ensure flames had been extinguished.

Possum Trot-Sharpe and Palma-Briensburg fire departments responded to an early morning house fire Tuesday on Dunnigan Lane in Marshall County.
Possum Trot-Sharpe Fire Chief Rick Pershing said the call came in just before 8 a.m., when a neighbor noticed smoke emanating from the roof of the residence. Pershing, who was first on scene, said when he arrived he felt the back door of the home; it was hot to the touch.
“The door by the kitchen in the back was even hotter,” Pershing said. “So I told them to get ready for an entry team, as soon as they got here. Well, when they did, we ventilated the back, went in this door here and the whole kitchen area was fully involved. … It was basically contained to the kitchen area, and it’s pretty well gutted.”
Crews took less than an hour to extinguish the blaze. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
