Simmons resigns position as girl’s head basketball coach at Marshall County

Joseph Simmons has resigned his position as Head Girl’s Basketball Coach at Marshall County High School. Coach Simmons has accepted the same position at Goodpasture Christian School in Madison, Tenn., located just north of Nashville.

Simmons was Head Coach for the Lady Marshals for seven seasons, where he led his teams to an overall record of 178-59 including two District Championships and three consecutive Regional Championships from 2012-2014.

“I have been offered an opportunity that my family and I could not pass up,” Simmons said. “I have enjoyed my seven years at Marshall County and will always cherish the time that I had to serve as the Head Coach of the Lady Marshals. I want to thank all my current and former assistant coaches, players and support staff for all their hard work and dedication to the program. I want to especially thank all of the loyal fans for the encouragement they have given our teams over the past seven seasons. Also, I would like to thank the administration for their support and allowing me the opportunity to be a part of the most storied program in the Commonwealth.”

The search for a new coach will begin immediately.
