Chamber announces upcoming dinner and award recipients

The Kentucky Lake Chamber of Commerce would like to announce that plans have been made for their upcoming Annual Dinner. This event will take place on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park Convention Center

The evening will begin with doors opening at 5:00 pm, with a mix and mingle type atmosphere happening until about 6:00 pm to give guests plenty of time to arrive and visit with each other. Snacks and a cash bar sponsored by the Kentucky Lake CVB will be available. At 6:00 pm the buffet lines will open up so guests can help themselves to a great line-up of dinner entrees prepared by the chefs at Ky Dam Village. A new treat added this year will be storytelling entertainment provided by Jamie Futrell of Paducah. Jamie is the station manager for Bristol Broadcasting and he certainly has a knack for telling some pretty funny stories, so you won’t want to miss him! Then around 7:00 pm the evening will transition to the Chamber part of program with Chamber board recognition and the evening will conclude with the highlight of honoring some very worthy award recipients.

Those being honored this year are: “Business of the Year” will go to Shop-O-Rama. Shop-O-Rama has been a staple business not only in the Draffenville community but also has a store in Calvert City which has recently relocated into a new larger facility. Since 1965 they have taken excellent care of its customers’ large variety of needs all while maintaining great service and great prices. Another award that will be given this year is a “Tourism Award” which will be going to Moors Resort & Marina for their extensive remodel and upgrades to their resort to further serve the visitors that come to the lakes area with additional amenities. The “Citizen of the Year” award will be presented to Mr. Randy Newcomb who is Director of the Kentucky Lake Convention and Visitors Bureau for his efforts in launching the collaborative branding initiative for our county that got local governments and other entities working together to promote our community and Randy put himself out there as the vocal spokesperson in favor of alcohol sales for the county. Then the final award of the evening will be the prestigious “Lifetime Achievement” which will be going to Marty Johnson for his unfailing and continual dedication to this community through providing legal support and service to several boards in our community as well as other organization involvement.
