It’s been a couple of months since the Kentucky High School Soccer Coaches Association announced the All-State Teams, two from Marshall County receiving selections – Whitley Watwood and Eric Hicks – both recently receiving their All-State hardware.
Watwood, a Lady Marshals senior, earned Second Team All-State. Whitley was selected to the All-District Team in 2019 and 2020. She was selected to the All-Region Second Team in 2019 and the All-Region First Team in 2020. She was also named to the 2020 All-Region One Tournament Team. Whitley helped lead the Lady Marshals to District and Regional Championships all four years of her high school career. Whitley is looking to continue her soccer career next year at the college level.
Hicks, a senior for the Marshals, also earned an All-State Second Team selection. He was selected to the All-Region First Team this season and Second Team in 2019. He was named to the All-District Team both his junior and senior seasons. He helped lead the Marshals to three straight District Championships and a 2019 Regional Championship.
