KYTC statement on the passing of I-69 visionary Bill Revell of Dyersburg, TN

Many folks who have worked to extend Interstate 69 through Western Kentucky are mourning the passing of former Dyersburg, Tn, Mayor and Interstate 69 visionary Bill Revell.

Mayor Revell was a great cheerleader for I-69 in the early days and was well-known to many who supported development of the I-69 corridor through Tennessee, Kentucky, and other neighboring states.

In October of 2011 he was among dignitaries who attended an event for the first official section of I-69 in Kentucky, bringing along a Tennessee I-69 sign to have his photo made with then Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear.

Bill Revell lived to see a good portion of his vision for development of I-69 become a reality.

As Kentucky continues to finish out the remaining sections of Interstate 69, those of us who regularly drive on the existing sections of I-69 across the U.S. owe a debt to Bill Revell and a few dozen other visionaries who pushed for development of the corridor when it was merely an idea.

We join his family in celebrating his life and vision.
