Extended closure of U.S. 62 in Princeton at KY 91 intersection for rail crossing work starts Saturday, August 3

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (July 28, 2019) — A contractor for P&L Railroad plans to close U.S. 62 immediately at the KY 91 intersection in Princeton for rail crossing work starting Saturday, August 3, 2019.

The closure of U.S. 62 at Caldwell County mile point 5.919 at the KY 91 intersection is to allow upgrades to the rail crossing that runs through the intersection.  U.S. 62 is expected to remain closed at this site about ½ mile south of the I-69 Princeton Exit 79 interchange until Wednesday, August 7.

Approximately 15,000 vehicles travel through the U.S. 62/KY 91 intersection at Princeton in an average day.

There will be a marked detour for U.S. 62 along Interstate 69 between the Princeton-Eddyville Exit 71 interchange and the Princeton-Marion Exit 79 interchange.

Motorists should be aware of the extended detour and allow extra travel time while the detour is in place.

KY 91 will remain open to traffic on the north and east legs of the intersection during the work.

The contractor for P&L Railroad will attempt to provide timely updates as the work progresses.
