Region 1 Class 3A meet Tuesday, four track athletes rank top 10 in the nation

These four Marshall County track athletes have achieved a Top 10 ranking in the nation in their age group (L-R) Cade Flatt, Caleb Pahl, Ethan McCarty and Presleigh Jennings.

The Marshall County girl’s and boy’s track teams will head to Henderson County Tuesday to compete in the Region 1 Class 3A meet that gets underway at 10 a.m. The boy’s team is looking to defend their 2018 title and win their fourth regional meet in the last five years. The girls finished fifth at last year’s regional meet and are looking improve on that tomorrow.

Heading into regionals, the Marshall County team has four athletes ranked in the top 10 in the NATION! Cade Flatt ranks 3rd among freshman in the 800 meters (1:55.94), Caleb Pahl ranks 9th among freshman pole vaulters (14-4), Ethan McCarty’s is ranked 10th nationally as an eighth grader in a high school meet in the 3200 meters (10:18.81) but his time would place him 4th best among eighth graders and Presleigh Jennings ranks 8th among eighth grade girls in the high jump (5-2).

Tori McCracken is currently tied nationally with 32 other sophomore girls in the high jump (5-6), all just one inch away from ranking in the top 10.

Eight are ranked top 10 in the state starting with Flatt who is ranked 2nd in the high school 800 meters and 1st among freshman. Pahl ranks 5th in the high school pole vault and 2nd in his freshman age group. McCracken ranks 1st overall in the high jump (5-6) and 1st among sophomores. Sydney Temple is ranked 10th in the pole vault (10-6) overall and 2nd among junior girls. Presleigh Jennings ranks 1st in the state among eighth grade girls as well as 1st across all middle school grades. Ethan McCarty’s time in the 3200 (10:18.81) clocked in a high school meet  ranks 1st among eighth graders in Kentucky in a high school meet and his current middle school 3200 meet time (10:58.44) ranks 5th among 8th graders and 8th across all middle school grade levels . Joey Colley is ranked 1st among all middle schoolers in the shot put (47-10) – 13th in the nation among eighth graders. Aiden Dunigan is ranked 1st in the triple jump (36-10) among seventh graders and 5th across all middle schoolers.

Two athletes will head into tomorrow’s meet defending their titles from last season. McCracken is the defending Region 1 Class 3A high jump champion and the Kentucky Class 3A State Champion. Pahl is the defending Region 1 Class 3A pole vault champion.
