Traffic Signal Phase Change Planned at US 45-Business/Kentucky Avenue at 16th Street in Paducah on Wednesday, September 19th

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans a traffic signal phase change at the intersection of US 45-Business/Kentucky Avenue and 16th Street in Paducah on Wednesday, September 19, 2018.

Traffic on Kentucky Avenue traveling east and west now has a split phase with protected turns.  To reduce wait time and improve traffic flow, this signal is being reworked to allow permissive turns only.   Under the new phasing, motorists traveling east and west on Kentucky Avenue will be required to yield to oncoming traffic before making a turn.

Motorists who travel through this intersection on Kentucky Avenue are reminded that the left-hand lane can be used for both turns and through traffic.  Caution is required.

Motorists should be alert for changes in traffic flow this phase change will create at this intersection near the Paducah Power System Headquarters and the Paducah Railroad Shops at US 45-Business milepoint 0.95.

Message boards will be placed on the approaches to the intersection to alert motorists to this coming phase change which is expected to take place sometime after 9:00 a.m., CDT, on Wednesday.

Motorists should use extra caution while equipment, flaggers, and signal personnel are working in and around this intersection in close proximity to traffic flow to prepare for the phase change.

More than 6,300 vehicles travel through this intersection in an average day.
