The fall season just got a little more festive for three area homeowners awarded cash prizes for their outdoor decorating efforts.
The “Awesome Fallsome Contest” hosted by Park Avenue Properties Real Estate encouraged residents to submit photos of their fall porch and yard displays for a chance to win a total of $700 in cash prizes. The entries were submitted to the company’s Facebook page throughout October and winners were chosen on Monday, Oct. 23.
Judge-Executive Kevin Neal along with Benton Mayor Rita Dotson and Barney Thweatt had their work cut out for them as they narrowed down entries to the top three.
Darla Doss of Benton won third place with a cash prize of $100. Tina Stewart of Benton won second place, winning a cash prize of $250.
The Awesome Fallsome Contest first-place winner was Shirley Merritt of Benton. The Merritts’ yard display of seasonal elements centered around an antique wagon earned top approval from the judges and the $350 first place prize.
