Lady Marshals take the win in five sets over Graves County

Jessica Hicks sends the ball over the out-stretched hands of the Graves County blockers.

Coach Dan Langhi said he asks his players to just get better every day and feels like they’ve done that. Proof of that came Tuesday at home when they defeated Graves County in five sets after falling to the Lady Eagles earlier this season in three sets.

Halle Langhi gets a hit past Graves County blockers in the Lady Marshals five-set win.

“I don’t think either team played particularly well, but I’ll take it any way you can get it”, Coach Dan Langhi said. “We were making a lot of mistakes by just not being in the right place…as a coach that’s frustrating.”

Langhi was happy with the mental toughness his team showed after falling in the first two sets 25-21 and 25-23, coming back to win the next three 25-18, 25-21 and 15-12 for their fourth win, but more importantly, a win that showed him how far the young team has come since the beginning of the season.

“There comes a point in time you can’t say that any more”, Langhi said about the youth and experience of his team. “We’re over our halfway point in the season and I don’t care if you’re an eighth grader, a freshman or whoever you are, you’ve got to quit making the mistakes you’re making.”

Langhi said his players have learned that no matter their experience, they have to come out and lead.

Their next game will be at Mayfield on Thursday with two home games scheduled next week on Tuesday against Murray and Thursday with Calloway County.

A happy group of Lady Marshals celebrate their win over Graves County.
