Former Marshall County stand-out football player, Nolan Nichols, will take the field this fall for the Murray State Racers. Wearing #41, the 5-11 215 lb. red shirt junior will be one of the running backs on the 94-man roster that Head Coach Mitch Stewart will tap to carry the ball for the Racers.

The Racers held their first scrimmage on Tuesday and Stewart said in a story on GoRacers.com, “He saw a lot of good things from the three running backs that participated in the scrimmage, Nolan Nichols, D.J. Penick and Kyree Hawkins.”

The Racers open their 45th season at Roy Stewart Stadium at home on August 31st against Kentucky Wesleyan. The stadium recently underwent some updates adding a new light system as well as replacing the scoreboard with a new video board and instant replay. The instant replay is new to Ohio Valley Conference play this year.

Nichols finished his senior season for the Marshals ranked fourth among Class 6A rushing leaders with 1,184 yards.

Nichols finished the 2013 season with the Marshals ranked fourth among Class 6A rushing leaders.
