Marshall County Sheriff’s Report – August 29, 2016

sheriffOn August 27th at approximately 2:57am, Deputy Josh Anderson was on patrol on Dyke Road. Deputy Anderson observed a vehicle swerving and attempted to stop it. The vehicle fled and stopped at the end of Marie Lane. After a brief foot chase, Deputy Anderson caught the driver who he identified as Terry M. Blades Jr age 22 of Gilbertsville. Further investigation revealed that Blades was in possession of synthetic drugs and paraphernalia,. Blades was charged with Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree, DUI, Possession of Synthetic Drugs, and Drug Paraphernalia – Buy / Possess. Blades was lodged in the Marshall County Detention.

On August 27th at approximately 9:22pm, Deputy Josh Anderson was dispatched to the campground at Southern Comfort in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, Deputy Anderson made contact with met with Patricia Matheny age 48 of Benton. According the citation filed by Deputy Anderson, Matheny was manifestly under the influence of alcohol and was yelling profanities in the presence of several young children. Matheny was charged with Alcohol Intoxication and Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree. She was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

On August 27th Deputy Dan Melone and other officers were dispatched to a disturbance on Driver Lane. While there he came into contact with a man he identified as John Wesley Shekell age 38 of Benton. Due to his extreme intoxication he was taken to Marshall County Hospital for medical clearance and after being released was lodged on Alcohol Intoxication into the Marshall County Detention Center.

On August 28th at approximately 4:01 am, Deputy Josh Anderson was on patrol and observed a vehicle being driven recklessly on Main Street in Benton. Deputy Anderson initiated a traffic stop and the vehicle stopped in the road side ditch at 18th and Main. Justin B. Colson age 25 of Benton was arrested and charged with Reckless Driving and DUI. He was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

During the previous week Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 393 calls for service. This includes 10 traffic crashes, 10 motorist assists, 3 DUI complaints, 2 reckless driver complaints, 28 traffic stops, 83 extra patrols, 8 disturbances, 1 domestic disturbance, 1 assault complaint, 3 burglaries, 11 thefts, 4 follow up investigations, 3 drug complaints, 4 alcohol intoxication complaints, attempted service of 19 warrants and 31 civil papers, 9 suspicious person or vehicle complaints, 8 prisoner transports, and 7 check the welfare complaints.
