BENTON – On December 12, 2015, shortly after 5 PM, officers were dispatched to the area of US Highway 641, near Marshall County Memorial Gardens, in reference to a head on injury collision.
A white 1999 Chevrolet blazer driven by William H Wheeler, 57 of Benton Kentucky, was northbound on US 641 when he crossed the center line into oncoming traffic. Wheeler’s vehicle struck a White 2014 Chrysler minivan driven by a John Poe, 83 of Benton, Kentucky.
A passenger in Poe’s vehicle, Margaret Poe, 80 of Benton, Kentucky, succumbed to her injuries at Marshall county hospital. The accident remains under investigation by deputy Dan Melone. Deputies were assisted on scene by the Palma Briensburg fire department and the Marshall County ambulance service.
