City of Benton, Hardin Announce Curfew to be Enforced on Halloween Night

BENTON, KY – The cities of Benton and Hardin in Marshall County have announced a Halloween curfew set to begin Saturday, October 31 at 10:00 p.m.

Benton Police Chief Tracy Watwood says extra officers will be patrolling the streets to insure folks have a safe Halloween. Anyone appearing to be under the age of 18 and found walking the streets after 10:00 p.m. will be stopped and questioned by police. The only exceptions include having a legal guardian present or involvement in a church or school function.

High traffic areas in Benton on Halloween night include Merrywood Drive and the Woodtrace Subdivision. Chief Watwood encourages motorist to slow down and exercise extreme caution while driving in areas populated by trick-or-treat. He says dark-colored costumes make it difficult for motorist to spot a pedestrian after dark and mask can make it difficult for kids to see oncoming vehicles.

City of Hardin Mayor, Randal Scott says they too will enforce a 10:00 p.m. curfew on Halloween night.
