The Women of the Aurora Community Park Activities Committee would like to invite folks to attend their spin on a ‘new beginning’ in Aurora with the upcoming Aurora Fall Festival.

This year’s new and improved festivities are scheduled to kick off on Friday, October 16 beginning at 8:00 a.m. and continuing until 5:00 p.m. Local musician Michael Paul Castelberry will provide the entertainment beginning at 4:00 p.m.

There will be craft booths set up, including the opportunity to meet locally acclaimed artist Ken Holland. Additionally, organizers say there are over fifty vendors anticipated to fill the flea market.

“It’s back to the original third weekend. It used to be on the first weekend of the month due to prior organizers changing the dates,” says Bonnie KinCannon. “It had started declining and falling apart over the past three to four years. So much so that there wasn’t a festival in 2014.” This year the five organizing women of ‘WACPAC’ hope to bring great revival to the event and community.

A parade is scheduled to fill the streets at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 17. The Grand Marshall will be Marshall County Judge/Executive Chyrill Miller. The West Kentucky Rockin’ Rollers (roller derby team), the Patriot Guard and the Shriners will accompany the many antique cars and tractors planning to attend the exhibition. Organizers are also welcoming horseback riders and wagons into the parade.

Saturday’s festivities will be from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. with musical guests, The Fredricks beginning at 1:00 p.m. and Lani Evans to follow. Demonstrations by a chainsaw carver, basket weaver and deco-mesh wreath maker will also take place throughout the day on the park’s newly built stage.

The festival will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday and draw to a close at 3:00 p.m.

To reserve space in the flea market or placing in the parade line-up, folks are encouraged to contact organizers, Bonnie KinCannon at (270) 354-8467 or Leann at (270) 354-9964. Additional information is available on their Facebook page:
