Marshall County Sheriff’s Report – September 21

On Sunday September 20th Deputy Dan Melone was dispatched to Little Cypress Road in reference to a single vehicle collision. The vehicle had ran off the roadway and struck a set of railroad tracks. Upon contact with the driver he had a very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him. The subject was manifestly under the influence of alcohol. William D Mathis 38, of Calvert City, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence.

On Sunday September 20th Deputy Barry Howell was dispatched to US 62 in reference to a vehicle accident. Upon arrival the driver had already been picked up by a friend and taken to the Marshall County Emergency Room. The vehicle had ran off the roadway and struck a tree head on. Deputy Howell observed a strong smell of alcohol present inside the vehicle. Speaking with the driver at the ER the subject admitted to drinking before driving. No field sobriety test was conducted due to the subjects injuries. Hayes H. Buchanan 22, of Nashville, TN, was cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence due to his injuries.

For the week of September 14 through September 21 the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following: 15 Traffic Accidents, 3 DUI’s, 4 Motorist Assists, 9 Burglary/Theft reports, 15 Disturbances, 2 Investigations, 2 Domestic Disturbances, 6 Warrants served, 15 Civils Served, 11 Complaints, 24 Have a Deputy Call and 19 Traffic Stops for a total call volume of 209 calls responded to.
