The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to close a section of KY 1949/Wadesboro Road in Marshall County on Monday, July 27. 2015.
KY 1949/Wadesboro Road will be closed at mile point 7.324 to allow major repairs to the Smith Creek Bridge. This closure along KY 1949 is near the Purchase Parkway Tunnel.
In late June KYTC bridge inspectors placed a 6-ton load limit on the bridge when they found deterioration of the bridge sub structure. In the weeks since the closing engineers have been developing a strategy for repairing the bridge.
KY 1949 will be closed to through traffic between KY 3526 at mile point 6 and KY 408 near the 9 mile marker. The roadway will be closed starting at 8 a.m., CDT, on Monday. It is expected to reopen to traffic around 3 p.m. on Monday.
Should additional work be required at the site the closure could continue into Tuesday.
