Billy Joe Dodson, age 86, of Bardwell, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022 at Countryside Center in Bardwell.
Billy Joe was born in Clinton, Kentucky on July 4, 1935 to the late Floyd C Dodson and Sally Beatrice Vann Dodson known to most as “Miss B”. Billy Joe was very strong in his faith and was a devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church where he was ordained as a deacon in 1984. At the time of his death, Billy Joe was the oldest member of his beloved church. He served his nation in the Army, worked for 40+ years at Propane Amerigas, farmed, had chicken barns, and hauled cattle for many different people. He will be remembered for how he enjoyed helping others, for his love for his dear dog “Hank”, but mostly Billy Joe will be remembered for how he truly loved people with all of his heart.
He is survived by one daughter, Teresa Carol Norment (Tim) of Bardwell; two sons, Jimmy Lynn Dodson and Larry Joe Dodson (Carol) both of Bardwell; seven grandchildren, Phillip, Josh, Jamie, Sandra, Aaron, Billy, Jonathan; and five great-grandchildren.
Billy Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Faye Dodson; and one sister, Mary Francis Dowdy.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 28, 2022 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell with Bro. Gaylon Bruer and Bro. Jason Burnett officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until service time on Monday, February 28, 2022 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell.
